Photo Flash: Society for the Performing Arts Hosts Piano Master Class with The 5 Browns
The Society for the Performing Arts recently presented a piano master class with The 5 Browns and students from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, as part of its education initiative. Held at the Steinway Selection Center downtown, about 25 students participated in the event. Scroll down for photos!
The 5 Browns are a classical piano quintet of three sisters and two brothers who attended Houston's Memorial High School and are waking up classical music to share it with the widest and most excited audiences they can find. The group performed at Jones Hall on May 12 to raves from the audience.
During the master class, three sets of HSPVA duos performed for The 5 Browns and their classmates. After each performance, a member of The 5 Browns would speak to the performance and make suggestions as to how they could improve. The member would also step in and show examples of what to do. Students were excited to engage with and learn from this dynamic musical quintet.
