Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company to Present LARGE ANIMAL GAMES Through 7/14

Mildred's Umbrella Theater Company will present Large Animal Games, by Steve Yockey and directed by Matt Huff (A Picasso at Stages; The Flu Season for Mildred's Umbrella). The performances will run June 28 through July 14, 2012 at Studio 101 at Spring Street Studios.

Synopsis: This incisive, unexpected, and larger than life tale of sex, love, and self delusion tracks the overlapping escapades of a group of friends old enough to know better in love but still naive enough to mess things up anyway, and the man who supplies them with equal parts tough love, lingerie and self awareness. In a series of fluid scenes, Large Animal Games takes a comically skewed and razor-sharp look at modern relationships through a mix of bullfights, big game hunting and intimate apparel.

STEVE YOCKEY's full-length plays include Bellwether, Cartoon, Disassembly, Heavier than…, Large animal games, Octopus, Skin, Sleepy, Wonder. His short plays include Bright. Apple. Crush., Dizziness and loss of breath, every little thing, Kiss and Tell, Lonesome, Medusa, Snuff film, Stop motion, Sucker Punch, Swallow. Mr. Yockey's plays have premiered at Mosesian Theatre, Lieberman Theatre, McGinn Cazale Theatre, Vital Theatre Company, 7 Stages, Out of Hand Theater, Impact Theatre, La Val's Subterranean, Vital Signs New Works Festival, Actors Express, King Plow Arts Center, Actor's Express Theatre Company, Dad's Garage Theatre Company, Marin Theatre Company and Atlas Theatre, and have been produced across the country. Steve is a Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Georgia and earned an MFA in Dramatic Writing at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He was the recent recipient of Coca-Cola Artist residency to teach dramatic structure at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He also completed a yearlong NPNN playwriting residency at Martin Theatre Company. Mr. Yockey currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
