Visual Arts Director

Job Type: Permanent
Location: Katy, Texas
Position Title: Visual Arts Director
Status: Part time, approximately 15 hours per week
Immediate Supervisor: Executive Artistic Director
Directly Manages the Following Positions: Visual Arts Instructors

The Visual Arts Director (VAD) position is responsible to the Executive Director for the direction, coordination and overall management of KVPAC's Visual Arts departments. The VAD is responsible for the hiring and supervision of all instructors to insure the highest level of excellence in the visual art programs. The VAD is responsible for the implementation and ongoing maintenance of all policies and procedures as they relate to this department. The VAD will identify, plan and implement the objectives set by the Executive Artistic Director, to ensure the department’s effectiveness and meet budget goals as outlined by the Board of Directors and the Executive Directors. While a regular work schedule will be established, flexibility is desired. Some Saturdays and evenings may be required.

Essential Job Functions:

· Develop a year-round curriculum of art classes for youth and adults

· In collaboration with Executive Artistic Director, identify and develop a range of arts education classes for youth and adults, including many mediums of visual art

· Help coordinate outreach arts programs with Outreach Director

· Develop and coordinate a series of summer art classes for youth

· Recruit, schedule, orient and supervise qualified, diverse art instructors to teach classes.

· Coordinate student art exhibitions

· Solicit and gather artwork from KVPAC art classes, working in collaboration with teaching artists

· Curate and ensure installation of exhibition in KVPAC galleries

· Plan and coordinate community events to promote program

· Plan and coordinate monthly art activities for all ages on available Saturdays each month

· Participate in other community arts events, as necessary.

· Assist with outreach and marketing to promote enrollment and ensure diversity of participants

· Help produce course catalog with full listing of arts classes and events three times per year.

· Build relationships with students, families and community members.

· Perform administrative duties to ensure effective program operation

· Work closely with KVPAC Program Directors to develop goals and objectives for arts programming that achieve the mission of KVPAC

· Ensure high quality and maximize community participation.

· In collaboration with Executive Operations Director, assign space for arts education classes/events and monitor facility needs.

· Establish contracts with all teaching artists

· Maintain accurate and thorough program records including: class lists, schedules and descriptions, and other necessary documentation.

· Organize and maintain inventory of art supplies.

· Assist EOD with grant writing for arts programming funding and preparing reports to funders.

· Participate in annual budgeting process and monitor program spending to ensure it stays within the allotted budget.

· Teaching hours required

· Other Duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

· BA in Visual Arts or related field

· minimum of 2 years teaching experience in school or after school setting

· management experience preferred

· working knowledge of MS Office Suite and database management
