Houston Grand Opera (HGO) announced today that, due to popular demand, an additional performance of its new production of Giacomo Puccini's Madame Butterfly has been scheduled for Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 7:30 pm in the Wortham Theater Center's Brown Auditorium.

"The company's new production of Madame Butterfly has proven to be an extraordinarily popular ticket," explained HGO's General Director and CEO Anthony Freud- adding that the first three performances are sold-out. "We are delighted with the excitement that this production has generated and are pleased to announce an additional performance so that a larger audience may experience this gem of the operatic repertory."

"I am truly touched by the excitement that this production has garnered even before opening night," adds soprano Ana María Martínez. "At a time of economic uncertainty, it is a tremendous inspiration and testament to the importance of opera and its impact on the world and the human spirit, that HGO finds itself in an auspicious position to please its loyal and enthusiastic audience by adding a performance."
Single tickets for all performances of Madame Butterfly are on sale now and start at $24. Tickets may be obtained online at www.houstongrandopera.org or by phone at 713-228-OPERA (6737) or 1-800-62-OPERA (800-626-7372).
