Christie's THE MOUSETRAP Slated for ExxonMobil Summer Chills Series, Closes 8/8

By:

Beginning July 2010, Alley Theatre will produce Agatha Christie's THE MOUSETRAP during its popular ExxonMobil Summer Chills series. The perfect summer outing for Houstonians seeking a cool respite from the summer heat, ExxonMobil Summer Chills is a great way to introduce live theatre to first-timers, giving them an opportunity to thrill in suspenseful moments and unexpected revelations.

Agatha Christie's THE MOUSETRAP begins performances Thursday, July 8, opens Saturday, July 10, and runs through Sunday, August 8 on the Hubbard Stage.

Written by the undisputed mistress of the thriller genre, THE MOUSETRAP follows a group of strangers - one of whom is a murderer - trapped in a boarding house during a snow storm. Is it the newlyweds whose rampant suspicions nearly wreck their marriage, or the spinster with the curious background? Perhaps it is the architect, the retired Army major, or the odd man who claims his car overturned in a snow drift?

Originally titled Three Blind Mice, Agatha Christie's famous story began as a 1947 radio play in tribute to Britain's Queen Mary. It was expanded into THE MOUSETRAP and opened in London in 1952 proving more successful than anyone could have imagined - it continues to play to this day, making it the longest-running show in theatre history. Though it is well-known that Agatha Christie gave The Mousetrap to her grandson as a birthday present, no one could have realized at the time what a truly marvelous present it was.

Tickets to Agatha Christie's THE MOUSETRAP start at $21. Tickets are currently available to subscribers and will go on sale to members of the Alley Theatre's Email Club beginning April 21, 2010. Tickets will be available for the general public on May 3, 2010. All tickets are available for purchase at www.alleytheatre.org, at the Alley Theatre Box Office, 615 Texas Avenue, or by calling 713.220.5700. Groups of 10 or more can receive special concierge services and select discounts by calling 713.315.3346. The added convenience of reservations by phone or Internet is available for a nominal fee. Tickets purchased in person at the Alley Theatre Box Office have a $1 building restoration fee.
