BAYOU CITY CONCERT MUSICALS continues its popular cabaret series with My Romance: The Rodgers & Hart Songbook, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 22, and 7:30 p.m., Monday, February 23, 2015. The evening of song will again be presented at the Performance Centre of the Ensemble Theatre, 3535 Main between Holman and Berry Street, in the heart of Midtown. (Entrance to The Centre is located on the corner of Fannin and Berry directly behind the theatre and has convenient free parking, courtesy of the Houston Community College.)

Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart wrote their first songs together in 1919 when they were still students at Columbia University and continued their partnership until Hart's death in 1943. They were a bit of a musical odd couple; Rodgers came from a prominent New York family while Hart was the son of a rough and tumble con man. But the songs they wrote together for Broadway and the movies are some of the most enduring entries in the Great American Songbook.

BCCM's cabaret evening will feature such Rodgers & Hart classics as It Never Entered My Mind, Johnny One Note, Where or When, There's a Small Hotel, as well as several songs from what may be Rodgers & Hart's crowning achievement, the 1940 Broadway musical, Pal Joey, BCCM Artistic Director Paul Hope will round out the evening with commentary about the lives and careers of this ground-breaking musical team.

Tickets are $25.00 and are available by calling 713-465-6484 or on line at bayoucityconcertmusicals.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the door, but reservations are recommended.
