Kumu Kahua Theatre's 47th Season Begins!

The first show of Kumu Kahua Theatre's 47th season is peopled with recognizable characters of the typical British whodunit, but reshaped into a refreshing 1990's representation of Hawai?i.

"So get ready to go back in time to an era of unapologetic local kine comedy with this lovable murder mystery farce," says playwright Garrick Paikai.

Set in the 1990's during a hurricane in the fictitious mansion of Rabbit Island. Gilbert Botello is dead. But who killed him? Was it the butler or the maid? Was it the eccentric tycoon or his son? Detective Roy Rodger Kalauakekahuna III and his sidekick Officer Billy Souza investigate the murder and astonishing events surrounding the untimely demise of Gilbert Botello in this comedic murder mystery.

"One thing I've learned," said Director R. Kevin Garcia Doyle, "through both my work on classics and with Garrick, is the importance of researching the cultural context of your show. Thus, this talented cast and I spent a lot of time researching what it was like to live during "that peculiar decade," the 1990s. We asked ourselves questions like "What did they wear?" and "How did they prepare food?" and "How did they tweet?" What we learned amused, baffled and sometimes even frightened us."

Ticket prices are $5-$25.
