On November 9, 2010, exactly twenty years after German reunification, the Udo Lindenberg musical Hinterm Horizont will celebrate its world premiere in Berlin.

Udo Lindenberg is one of Germany's most popular personalities. His story is as impressive as it is bizarre, and could easily provide material for several musicals. His most recent album, Stark wie zwei, is his best selling CD in Germany ever. Now his music can be heard in the new musical Hinterm Horizont, which can be seen as from November 2010 in the Theater am Potsdamer Platz in Berlin.

The musical, with famous Lindenberg songs like ‘Sonderzug nach Pankow', ‘Andrea Doria', ‘Cello', and ‘Hinterm Horizont', tells a surprising East-West Side Story. A woman is living an inconspicuous life in East Berlin in 2010 together with her husband and son until one day when a curious journalist asks her if she is the girl from the mysterious love song ‘Das Mädchen aus Ost-Berlin'. What follows is a nostalgic trip back to the time of the Iron Curtain, full of chance meetings and emotions that know no borders.

The Theater am Potsdamer Platz, designed by star architect Renzo Piano, has been one of the best-visited attractions at Potsdamer Platz since 1999. The theater is located at the end of Alte Potsdamer Strasse, the birthplace of show business in old Berlin. First-class entertainment can now be found where Marlene Dietrich once started her career. The theater's unique architectural style reveals itself to visitors approaching from Marlene-Dietrich-Platz. The 1,800-seat theater housed the world premiere of  the musical Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame on June 5, 1999. Other noteworthy productions at this theater include Cats, the Blue Man Group, Beauty and the Beast, and Mamma Mia.
