Disney Theatricals Premieres Musical TARZAN in Germany

Disney Theatrical Productions premiered the musical TARZAN® last night in Hamburg, Germany at the Theater Neue Flora.  The performance was sold-out and was well received by the German press.  BILD Hamburg, one of Germany’s most influential daily newspapers, said of the production that “Hamburg has a new top musical…breathtaking from the very beginning!”  TARZAN® Hamburg is produced by Stage Entertainment, Disney’s licensed partner and stars Anton Zetterholm as Tarzan and Elisabeth Hübert as Jane.  The stars were found via a casting show, ‘Ich Tarzan, du Jane!’ on Germany’s SAT1 TV station.

The Hamburg production of TARZAN® is an immersive version of the musical, with audience members surrounded by scenic elements and performers acrobatically swinging through the air.  Guided by much of the creative team that developed the original Broadway production, this new interpretation of the show is an incredible success in Holland, where TARZAN® is playing at the Circustheatre near Amsterdam and has already been seen by a million people.

TARZAN® is based on the story Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs and the Disney animated film and features music and lyrics by Phil Collins.  The original cast recording of the Broadway production of TARZAN® was released by Walt Disney Records and is available in music stores nationwide and at online retailers including Amazon, iTunes and Disney Shopping. TARZAN® made its world premiere on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in May, 2006.
