Dr. Seuss' CAT IN THE HAT Opens In Florida Rep's Theatre For Young Audience Series ImageFlorida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce the opening of Dr. Seuss's "The Cat in the Hat" on Sept. 29th at 1 PM in the Historic Arcade Theatre as part of its 2018-2019 Theatre for Young Audience series.

This performance is the first public performance of the play based on the classic children's book, and the production also on tour throughout Southwest Florida through May. The Sept. 29 showing begins at 1:00 PM in the Historic Arcade Theatre, and tickets priced at only $10 are available online at www.floridarepeducation.org and through the box office at 239-332-4488.

Florida Rep Education Director, Kody C. Jones, is proud to bring this zany classic to theatre's touring season. "'The Cat in the Hat' is a fun-filled, comedic adventure for our community and young audiences," he said. "I'm excited for our audience to enjoy the high quality touring shows that they've come to expect from Florida Rep's Education Department."

From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat in the Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat that they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and the craziest of ideas, he is certainly loads of fun. He turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure... but what will mum find when she gets home?

Dr. Suess's "The Cat in the Hat" is on tour throughout Southwest Florida through May 2019 and is now available for school bookings. The Theatre for Young Audiences Series is one of many programs that make up Florida Rep's Education Department, which reaches 33,000 students yearly. To book a tour, contact Education Outreach Manager, Anna McCullers at 239.332.4665 x 2041.

"The Cat in the Hat" stars Florida Rep's six performance interns, Mickey Reichert, Sydney Torres, Jake Berne, Patrick Mounce, Genevieve Tankosich, and Tova Volcheck, and is directed by Natalie Novachek, making her Florida Rep directorial debut. The production features a set design by resident designer, Jordan Moore, a costume design by Alex Vazquez, a sound design by Katie Lowe, and properties design by Jesseca Terhaar.
