Onegin by choreographer John Cranko is returning to the FNB after almost ten years of absence. Cranko's interpretation of the sad story by Alexander Pushkin is considered one of the finest full-length narrative ballets of the 20th century. Cranko and Kurt-Heinz Stolze adapted the music for the ballet mainly from Tchaikovsky's works for piano.
Tatiana falls for Onegin, a man of the world for whom the love of a young woman is irrelevant. It is not until years later when he meets Tatiana again that Onegin realises he has made a mistake, but by then it is too late.
