Ten Finalists Selected for 2026 Lenya Competition; Finals to Take Place in May
The Kurt Weill Foundation for Music revealed the ten finalists for the 2026 LENYA COMPETITION, set for at Kilbourn Hall in Rochester, NY.

Take Ten is Theater Masters' national ten-minute playwriting competition open to students at leading MFA programs. Five or six winning plays are chosen by a panel of industry professionals; the playwrights receive developmental feedback, are flown to New York City to see their plays produced with professional actors, directors and designers, and have their work presented in a public reading and published in an annual anthology by Concord Theatricals/Samuel French. Winners also take part in Wonder Week, a series of meetings with agents, literary managers and artistic directors, and receive mentorship from a National Adjudicator.
Students enrolled in top MFA playwriting programs only; 5-6 winners from 60+ submissions.
