Rhinebeck Writers Retreat hosts nine consecutive week-long summer residencies for nine musical theatre writing teams in the Hudson Valley near Rhinebeck, New York. Each team lives in a private lakefront house with piano, keyboard, recording and writing supplies, and receives a $550 stipend per writer, groceries, covered travel, and a remote peer advisor for dramaturgical feedback. Applications open annually with early (free) and late ($30) deadlines in February; the 2026 residencies run June 14 to August 16.
All members of writing team 21+; apply with one musical at any stage; music must be original; nine teams selected per summer.
