Overview
SUITE/space is Mabou Mines' performance residency for early-career interdisciplinary New York City artists whose practices emerge from marginalized identities and lived experience. It grew out of the Resident Artist Program founded in 1991 by Ruth Maleczech and was relaunched in 2018 under Karen Kandel and Carl Hancock Rux. Residents receive two $4,000 stipends, 80 hours of rehearsal space, technical and administrative support, artistic dialogue with the co-artistic directors, a free in-progress showing and a three-night run in the company's 99-seat theater. Applications are currently closed.
Eligibility
NYC-based early-career interdisciplinary artists whose practices emerge from lived experience at the margins; multimedia, music, dance, theater, cross-disciplinary work accepted.
