The Many Voices Fellowship, created in 1994 by the Playwrights' Center with the Jerome Foundation, supports early-career Black, Indigenous and other playwrights of color through a two-year professional development residency in Minnesota. Fellows are part-time employees of the Center with a $25,000 annual salary and benefits, $3,000 per year in play-development funds, and individualized work with artistic staff to develop plays and connect with producers. Applicants may not have had more than two professionally produced works and must commit to living in Minnesota during the term; the program has provided more than 140 fellowships since its founding.
