Overview

New York Theatre Workshop's 2050 Artistic Fellowship is a year-long program for early-career theatremakers representing a multiplicity of perspectives, historically supporting playwrights, directors, designers and solo performers with stipends, artistic community and access to NYTW's development resources. The 2025-26 cohort (Jasmine Sharma and Jean Carlo Yunen Arostegui) served as a prototyping year, and NYTW is not accepting 2026-27 applications while it re-conceives the program with more financial resources. A separate 2050 Administrative Fellowship for staff roles continues.

Eligibility

Early-career artists who author or direct work, including solo performers; must be based in/relocate to NYC; not full-time students; underrepresented voices encouraged.

Notes

NYTW is prototyping a new model with more financial resources; next-cycle details pending. Actors eligible only as self-generating solo performers. | Active fellowship, but the 2024/25 and 2025/26 cohorts consisted of directors, playwrights, and a solo performer; designer eligibility in the current cycle not confirmed. Separate 2050 Administrative Fellowships exist. | NYTW is not accepting applications for the 2026-27 2050 Artistic Fellowship while it re-conceives the program; 2025-26 was a 'prototyping year' with two fellows (Jasmine Sharma, Jean Carlo Yunen Arostegui). The sister 2050 Administrative Fellowship remains active (deadline was March 27, 2026). | NYTW is NOT accepting 2050 Artistic Fellowship applications for 2026/27 while it re-conceives the program. 2050 Administrative Fellowship (staff) continues.
