Actors may choose one or more scenes from the season and/or choose one or more readings from other sources. Sides will be available at the auditions. A reader will be provided. Scripts are available at the StageSource office at 88 Tremont St., Ste. 714 in Boston. Bring picture and resume, stapled together. Always bring your Equity membership card to auditions.

20s, Lorraine Motel maid. African-American. Memphis born and bred. Smart, beautiful, slightly mischievous.

Seeking:

DAD:

30s or 40s. A guy’s guy; bright, with quick impulses. Working class background, designs car crashes. Easygoing – till pushed – and even then the tone of his anger is more incredulous than dark.

JESSE:

Nine years-old. Funny, wild, sweet, impulsive, impatient, exuberant, angry, with a mouth on him.

DR. ZAVALA:

30s. A child psychologist. Very sensitive, dedicated and eager to help, but a bit anxious herself. She might be rather new at her job. Also plays CAROLYN, mother of an autistic child, and WAITRESS.

MRS. HOLLY:

40s or 50s. African-American. An over-worked school teacher for twenty-two years. Strong and straight-ahead. Also plays DR. WALLER, an educational neuropsychologist going through a hard time, and NURSE.

DR. DANIEL BRODER:

30s-60s A wise, warm, and compassionate homeopath. Laid-back, just trying to lead a healthy life in a toxic world. Also plays DR. JINKS (a highly respected, tightly buttoned psychiatrist), and DR. KARNES (a passionate environmental physician).

SHERRY:

30s-40s. A well-off suburban mother who wants the very best for her kids. Covers her pain with a smile and chases it with a doughnut.

VERA: 30s-40s A neighbor with no people skills, obsessive-compulsive, pointed, and direct. But she does try to be helpful!

NATALIE: Teenager. Big mood swings. Open-hearted and angry. A cutter.

The role of MAMA has already been CAST.
