TRULY, HOWARD HUGHES

SYNOPSIS: Truly, Howard Hughes is an unconventional love story following one of the 20th Century's most fascinating figures: aviator, filmmaker, businessman, and recluse, Howard Robard Hughes, Jr. The story unfolds as Hughes revisits his extraordinary life during his final moments, confronting the one thing his power and fortune could never secure, and leaves us with a haunting question: Would you, if you could?

SEEKING:

[ HOWARD HUGHES, JR. ] 30s, male-identified character. Lyric baritone to tenor in range. Famous, naturally elegant, notoriously very tall. Texas born. An American film producer of the 1930s and 1940s, an inventor, and an aviator who designed aircraft that advanced the art of flying.

[ KATHARINE HEPBURN ] 30s, female-identified character. Powerhouse voice with solid belt. Famous stage and film actress, friend, and love interest of HOWARD, JR.

THE FOLLOWING ROLES ARE CAST:

[ ALLENE HUGHES ] CAST. 30s, female-identified character. Lullaby-light soprano. Mother of HOWARD, JR. She died at 39 when Howard was 17.
[ NOAH DIETRICH ] CAST. 50s - 60s, male-identified character. Tenor range. A longtime employee of HOWARD, JR., he is a businessman and accountant hired to run Hughes Tool Company. Dance/tap is a plus.
[ ELLA BOTTS RICE ] CAST. 30s, female-identified character. Warm mezzo soprano. First wife of HOWARD, JR., daughter of wealthy Houston socialites.
[ RITA RANDOLPH ] CAST. Could be a broad range of ages, female-identified character. Sings well (mostly group singing). Gossip columnist and radio personality of the era (fictitious). Compelling personality.
[ BOY HOWARD ] CAST. Male-identified character, 10-12 years old. A young HOWARD HUGHES, JR. Sings with ALLENE at the top of the show and also at the end. He is inventive, direct, and extremely bright.
