Equity actors for roles in 2021-22 season (see breakdown).

No roles will be understudied.

TimeLine is will also be casting TBD readings and possibly workshops throughout the year. For those works, we are seeking adult actors of all genders and ethnicities.

BREAKDOWN

PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Prepare one monologue of your choice that lasts no more than 2 minutes or two one-minute monologues.

Be sure to include a phone number and an email address on your resume. E-mail a link to your video audition on a preferred platform (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) with a subject line of AEA GENERAL AUDITION. Attached your headshot/resume and answer the following questions:

Do we have your contact information including telephone number?
Will you share your pronouns with us?
Are you available for each production?
Are you open to be considered for an understudy position in any of the productions.

ALL ROLES HAVE BEEN CAST

JANET - Annelle’s older sister, a nurse, American Black/African American, female identifying, mid 30s - Very strong willed, controlled and intense.

ANNELLE - Janet’s younger sister, socialite, American Black/African American, female identifying, mid 30s

MOTHER - A captured soul (played by same actress as Annelle) mother of Zhuukee, grandmother to the sisters. American Black/African American - A woman desperate to save her lineage.

ZHUUKEE (ANNABELLE LEE) - Matriarch - was the mother of JANET and Annelle. Ages from Teenager - mid 20’s.

FRANKLIN - Affluent business man, world traveler, American Black/African American, fair skinned. Male identifying, Mid 30s to Mid 40’s

MARCUS - Husband to Annelle, a respected doctor, passionate about his work. American Black/African American, male identifying, mid 30s

MARY ELIZABETH - Wealthy. Marylander. White. plays teenager to 30s - idealist, enlightened beyond her years. Ages from teenager to early 30’s.

Afong Moy, chinese female identifying, ages from 14 years old to advanced age through the course of the play. Afong Moy is fourteen years old when she’s brought to the United States from Guangzhou Province in 1834. Allegedly the first Chinese woman to set foot on U.S. soil, she has been put on display for the American public as “The Chinese Lady.” For the next half-century, she performs for curious white people, showing them how she eats, what she wears, and the highlight of the event: how she walks with bound feet. As the decades wear on, her celebrated sideshow comes to define and challenge her very sense of identity. Inspired by the true story of Afong Moy’s life.
