Prepare a classical monologue, preferably Shakespeare (verse preferred).

Bring a headshot and resume stapled together.

Actors will be considered for all roles still available in the 2012-2013 season. All roles are understudied.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company specializes in classic plays. The theatre is always seeking new classical actors of all age ranges and types to add to its files.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company is a strong proponent of Non-Traditional Casting and actively encourages actors of color, seniors, women and performers with disabilities to attend its auditions.

Kolibas: 50s to 60s; hard-drinking, crass general in Wallenstein’s army

Harvaty:

Late 40s to Early 60s; Strong-willed General in Wallenstein’s army; has a gambling problem

Count Czerny:

50s; brother-in-law to Wallenstein; crafty, a political animal, and very duplicitous

Countess Czerny:

50s; strong-willed sister to Wallenstein; intelligent; conniving, and extremely political

Max Palladini:

20s; Octavio’s son, and an up-and-coming General in Wallenstein’s army. Young romantic lead who has strong morals, ideals, and honor.

Thekla:

20s; Wallenstein’s daughter; sensitive, well-mening, but isn’t afraid to speak her mind.

1st Grenadier:

30s to 50s: Soldiers in Wallenstein’s army

2nd Grenadier:

30s to 50s: Solider in Wallenstein’s army; must play Cello proficiently

Goetz:

30s to 60s; General in Wallenstein’s army

Devereux:

30s to 50s; hired assassin; must have comedic ability

Tieffenbach:

40s to 50s: General in Wallenstein’s army; corpulent and a heavy drinker

MacDonald:

30s to 50s; hired assassin; must have comedic ability

Lundquist:

30s to 40s; Swedish General who negotiates a deal with Wallenstein

Swedish Captain:

30s to 40s; Warm-spirited captain who tells Thekla of her lover’s death

Questenberg:

50s to 60s; Envoy sent from Vienna; officious, stuffy, bureaucratic; a “stuffed shirt”

Gordon:

60s; Childhood friend of Wallenstein’s who runs Eger Fortress; soft spoken, lacking in courage, not a fighter

Boy:

11-14: young German boy; must be able to sing proficiently in German
