Seeking (roles are available (i.e. not yet offered and accepted) unless otherwise specified):

Elizabeth:

AVAILABLE ROLE. Early - late 20s. The much younger wife of Arnold Champion-Cheney, MP. Very pretty young woman with a rebellious streak. Chafes under the social rules and interests of the wealthy and rarified society she grew up in and married into. Bored by her restricted and confining life with Arnold. Has a romantic imagination, but there is still something very capable about her. British accent required.

Anna Shenstone:

AVAILABLE ROLE. 40s. Has an elegant and pleasant appearance. She is of the upper class;

goes from one house party to another, seeking company and entertainment. The unbiased and sensible observer in the domestic dramas of others. British accent required.

Edward Luton:

AVAILABLE ROLE. Mid - late 20s. Breezy and upbeat young man, visiting the Champion-Cheney

household while he is back in England from the rubber plantation he manages in Malaysia. Teddy is neither wealthy nor on the same social rung as Arnold and Elizabeth. He doesn't understand living their restricted life of doing things you don't like to do because it is expected. Relishes his life of work and freedom, and describes himself as an ordinary businessman. In love with Elizabeth. British accent required.

The following roles are cast (i.e. offers accepted). Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary.

Clive Champion-Cheney:

CAST. Early 60s. Gentleman with a fine head of grey hair and an intelligent and somewhat ascetic face. Makes the most of himself and bears his years jauntily. British accent required.

Arnold Champion-Cheney:

CAST. About 35. Tall and good-looking. Has a clean-cut, sensitive face. Has a look that is intellectual, but somewhat bloodless. Very well dressed. British accent required.

Lady Catherine Champion-Cheney:

CAST. 60s. Gay little lady with dyed red hair and painted cheeks. Always somewhat outrageously dressed. Never forgets that she has been a pretty woman, and still behaves as if she were twenty-five. British accent required.

Lord Porteous:

CAST. 60s-70s. Very bald gentleman in loose, rather eccentric clothes. Snappy and gruff. British accent required.

Footman / Butler:

CAST. One actor plays both. 30s-60s. British accent required.
