Breakdown

2016 Season with available roles:

LAST GAS
by John Cariani
Director: Brendan Burke.
1st rehearsal May 17, 2016; Runs June 3 – June 19, 2016.
Seeking:

Nat Paradis:
Male, physically slight, 40. Lives in, and runs, a gas station/convenience store in northern Maine. His inertia and depression leave him lost in life, and ineffective in his role as a father. The surprise arrival of his old flame Lurene might just be the jumpstart he needs. But, then again, so might be his feelings for, and friendship with, Guy.

Troy Paradis:
Nat’s capable and impressive 17 year old son. Loves his Dad a great deal and is worried about him.

Guy Gagnon:
Nat’s best friend, husky or fat, 41. Is ready for a change. Quiet, and viewed as ineffectual. He’s been burned before, and is ready to take a chance with Nat, tonight.

Dwight Paradis:
Nat’s Dad, 60s. Young at heart. A little rough around the edges, he enjoys a good time dancing and wooing the ladies.

Lurene Legassey Soloway:
Nat’s high school flame, 41. Visiting her home town to bury her mom. Wondering if she can re-kindle her old relationship with Nat. She’s become a bit of an outsider.

Cherry-Tracy Pulcifer:
Nat’s Mom, 41. A substantial and ambitious woman, she’s a forest ranger who takes charge. She’s frustrated by Nat’s inability to move forward.

__________

RED
by John Logan
Director: James Glossman
1st rehearsal: June 7, 2016. Runs June 24 – July 10, 2016.
Seeking:

Mark Rothko:
50’s. The revolutionary 20th century abstract expressionist painter. Unkempt and untidy, intellectually intense and rapidly verbal, a bit larger than life and knows this. Immense personal arrogance covering equally immense personal doubt---and the gnawing sense that time may be running out.

Ken:
Rothko’s new assistant, 20’s-30’s. A young but trained and passionate artist himself, he must rein in his own ego in service of a greater artist who says he wants someone to argue with him but too often acts like what he really wants is a yes-man and a flunkey. Earnest, articulate, and well-intentioned---but no pushover.

___________

MIRACLE ON SOUTH DIVISION STREET
by Tom Dudzick
Director: TBA
1st rehearsal: June 28, 2016. Runs July 15 – August 7, 2015.
Seeking:

Clara Nowack:
The family matriarch, 60’s; Born in Poland, she’s lived in the same Buffalo neighborhood since she was a child. Proud and protective of the family shrine.

Jimmy Nowack:
Clara’s son, early 30’s; The baby of the family, he’s a blue-collar, simple guy who likes fixing things. He’s got a surprise to announce.

Ruth Nowack:
Clara’s middle child, mid-30’s; An aspiring actress, she’s planning to turn the family story into a play.

Beverly Nowack:
Clara’s oldest daughter, late 30’s; Outspoken and opinionated, she’s her mother’s daughter. Loves to bowl.

____________

8-TRACK: THE SOUNDS OF THE 70S
by Rick Seeber & Michael Ribbin
Director: Michael LaFleur
Musical Director: Thomas Conroy
1st rehearsal: July 26, 2016. Runs August 12 – September 11, 2016

Seeking four performers 18-30 with strong, animated personalities with the ability to convey the emotions and attitudes of the ever-changing decade. All must be strong movers, capable of mastering the many styles and steps of the period. Vocals are highly demanding and require wide vocal ranges. Performers of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition.

Soprano:
The “seeker.” - Preferably to cast character as African-American. Alluring beauty with a vivid personality. Soulfully searching for a spiritual path through the decade. Soaring pop second soprano with tons of soul.

Alto:
The “Feminist” – Radiating a new-found pride, rock-chick power, seductiveness and vulnerability. Great pop-rock sound. Power belter.

Tenor:
The “Lovable One” – Preferably to cast character as African-American. Charming, cute and an extremely happy soul with a strong love for life. The real pop thing with monster top soaring range.

Baritone:
The “Lover” – Confident, alpha-male rock singer with an intensity of purpose. Pop-rock baritone/second tenor. Extremely attractive and Physically fit.

__________

GOD OF CARNAGE
by Yasmina Reza
Director: Sean Patrick Reilly
1st rehearsal: August 30, 2016. Runs September 16 – October 2, 2016.
Seeking:

Michael Novack:
Veronica’s husband, any ethnicity, 40’s. Owner of a wholesale company. Trying (for the sake of his wife) to look and appear as liberal and agreeable as he can, but is really much less evolved.

Veronica Novack:
Michael’s wife, any ethnicity, 40’s. A ‘social crusader’. She is a specialist in African culture and writing a book on Darfur, and has brought the couples together to resolve the situation as amicably as possible, but (ultimately) stands in judgement of the Raleighs and their son.

Alan Raleigh:
Annette’s husband, any ethnicity, 40’s. An arrogant attorney for a pharmaceutical company, who is unapologetically attached to his cell phone. He’s not sure this meeting has any value, as the conflict that precipitated it is just the ways things are.

Annette Raleigh:
Alan’s wife, any ethnicity, 40’s. A stylish and anxious wealth manager, trying to please and be appropriate, but can only take so much.

___________

THE NIGHT ALIVE
by Conor McPherson
Director: Brendan Burke
1st rehearsal: September 20, 2016. Runs October 7 – 23, 2016.
Seeking:

Maurice:
70’s; Owns the old house (and lives upstairs) and leases a room to Tommy, his nephew. Meddlesome and fastidious, Maurice still blames himself for his wife’s death three years ago.

Tommy:
50’s; Well built, but well worn. Down and out, separated from his wife, alienated from his kids and out of cash, living in squalor.

Aimee:
20’s; Well-worn and has been beaten up by her boyfriend/sometimes pimp.

Doc:
Late 40’s; Tommy’s “business partner”. A little slow on the uptake and somewhat dependent on Tommy to get by.

Kenneth:
30’s; Aimee’s volatile and dangerous boyfriend.
