He struggles to adjust to small-town life as he encounters many strict local edicts – including a ban on dancing instituted by the local pastor. As he falls for the pastor’s rebellious daughter Ariel, he sets out to conquer the town’s prejudices and find community through joy and openness rather than restriction and control.

Fresh from a sold-out, thrice extended Broadway run, John Proctor is the Villain is a startling and electric new play about the agony and ecstasy of being a teenage girl. A group of high school girls in a rural Georgia town begin reading The Crucible in English class, and the discussion around the play with their male teacher slowly derails as the girls begin questioning the long-held notion of John Proctor as a tragic hero. When rumors and revelations of misconduct begin to surface, eerily echoing the events of The Crucible, the girls must fight back against the ways institutions protect men at the expense of girls’ safety and credibility.

It is 1954, and a 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. Twelve jurors are taken into the bleak jury room, and everyone feels a guilty verdict is apparent. However, one of the jurors begins unraveling the seemingly ironclad conceptions of the case, and the deliberations quickly become heated – and personal. Each juror reveals his own beliefs, fears, and prejudices as the various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re-enacted, and the threat of violence becomes an ever-encroaching specter over the twelve angry men of the jury.
