BREAKDOWN
RODEO CLOWN
SEEKING
Jonah Moody: 20s, Black. Gifted-child burnout and a massive killjoy. The perfect victim and his only suspect. Can't make eye contact with a gun to his head. Played defensive lineman on his pee wee football team but really wanted to be the kicker.
Bryce Williams: 20s, POC. One of the few med students who won't graduate with crippling debt (thank you generational wealth). Was almost certainly the line-leader in elementary school with a board full of gold stars. Friend and former lover of Jonah.
Ben-Spencer Evans-Thomas: Mid to late 20s and country. Any race/ethnicity. Real down home. Can't recite Whitman but can jimmy rig a tractor. If the SEC had a pulse and a pair of lungs.
J.B.: Middle-aged and country. Any race/ethnicity. James Benjamin Mulvaney. A vengeful, failed rodeo clown turned league commissioner. Worse than a tactless broadway producer staring down the barrel of a shitty biographical musical. Well, even JB has a little bit more tact than that. But only a little bit.
Mrs. Mary Moody: Middle-aged. Black. Baptist, bad wig wearer. Classy in an old school but tacky way. Her comfort zone is life — anything beyond is death. She'll point to Leviticus 18:22 (thou shalt not lie with a man as with a woman), but just loves her some Billy Porter. He's so talented.
Louetta Stephens: ROLE HAS BEEN CAST. Middle-aged, country, Any race/ethnicity. AKA One-eyed Etta. A rodeo legend, bullfighting instructor and one-eyed lesbian.
