SEEKING:

• EMI: (She/Her, 64, Haitian) Is Bean's mother and a former nurse. Emi immigrated to the U.S. with Bean's father from Haiti and has no plans on returning back. She's a vibrant woman with a firecracker sense of humor. However, there is a depth to this woman as she has had to navigate the hardships that forced her to leave home and the hardship of being an immigrant in the US. Her daughter is her purpose in life, and she loves Bean immensely even if she doesn't always understand her.
• BEAN: (She/Her, 34, Haitian) Is Emi's daughter and born in the US. Bean is on the verge of getting everything she wants in her life. She's a successful lawyer who is up for partnership at her firm and has a loving fiancé to come home to. Despite all of this, something feels missing. Bean is lost. She longs for a deep connection to her mother's homeland. Bean loves her mother despite dodging Emi's incessant questions about when she's going to settle down with children.
