If auditioning for the non-singing role of Joe in I’M GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER, please prepare a brief contemporary monologue (comic or dramatic). All others: Please prepare a short folk, 1970s pop or cabaret song that shows range and personality. Bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist is provided, but may not transpose.
Please bring a picture and resume, stapled back-to-back.
Musicals in Mufti Series presents revivals of rarely seen musicals in a book-in-hand, full-staged reading format, rehearsed and presented over the course of one week.
Roles are available unless otherwise specified. For pre-cast roles, auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary.

1978 hit at The Public Theater and, subsequently, at Circle in the Square. Centers on a 39-year-old singer and her struggle with her manager as she tries to re-create her act to express her newfound sense of self and empowerment.
Heather:
39. Passionate and vulnerable singer/songwriter. Divorcée. Former pop and TV star, attempting a comeback. Strong. Mezzo (pop/folk and legit) cabaret singer.
Joe:
Mid - late 30s. Heather's manager. Very LA. Attractive, hip, macho, smooth-talking but impatient at times. Dealing with personal and professional turmoil. Non-singing.
Jake:
25. Charismatic lead guitarist in Heather’s band. Crazy about Heather. Also plays Heather’s father and a divorce lawyer in the skits. Must be an excellent guitar player. Pop/folk tenor or high baritone.
Cheryl:
Mid 30s. Heather's back-up singer and friend. A little spacey, but strong. Also plays Heather’s unhappily married mother in a skit. Strong singer; pop/folk mezzo.
Alice:
Late 20's. Heather's back-up singer and friend. A little brassy. Strong singer; pop/folk belter.
Lee:
Man, 30. Bass player in the band. Also plays Heather’s fiancé in a skit. Must be an excellent bassist who can sing.
Bobby:
30. The drummer. Joker who comments on the action with drum riffs. Must be an excellent drummer who can sing.
Ken:
CAST. 30s. Piano player in the band. Also participates in the skit as the minister in Heather’s wedding. Must be an excellent musician who can sing.

New musical that picks up 30 years later with the same characters from I’M GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER…, as Heather brings her band together for a reunion.
Joe:
Mid 60s. Heather’s long-estranged ex-manager. Very successful talent manager. Attractive, trim, California hip. At the top of his game. Baritone.
Jake:
55. Lead guitarist of the band. Still trim, charismatic and good-looking. Pop/country tenor or high baritone.
Bonnie:
40s. Heather's daughter, a talented singer and musician in her own right. Pop rock/folk voice. Must play guitar.
Leo:
Late 20s. Bass player. Contemporary musician, possibly with spiked hair, tattoos, etc. Good pop singer.
Bobby:
60s. Original drummer from the band. Still funny and quick with a drum-riff commentary.
Heather:
CAST. 69. Passionate and vulnerable singer/songwriter who has really lived. Strong mezzo (folk/pop and legit) cabaret singer.
Cheryl:
CAST. Mid 60s. A little spacey, but strong. Poet living in the woods. Attractive and youthful. Pop/folk mezzo.
Alice:
CAST. Late 50s. A widow, but still brassy. Pop/folk belt.
Ethan:
CAST. 40s. Piano player who can sing.
