J: 23-36, white nonbinary femme. We follow the character of J through their life from the 1920s-1990s so must be comfortable with age work. In their 20s, J is split between a life where they work as John Kenley, a precocious producer’s assistant, and Jean, a vibrant showgirl. 40 years later, J is attempting to have it all while aging out of one life and feeling confined by the other. NINA MAE: Black Trans woman in her 30s. NINA MAE dreams of living and loving in the light of day. She is confident and full of life. We follow the character of NINA MAE through her life from the 1920s-1960s so must be comfortable with age work. She is one of those women you can’t help but fall in love with. 40 years later, she is a mother. She has the grace, strength and brilliance that is unique to the majesty of Black women. OSCAR: 30s/40s Black Cis Man. We follow the character of OSCAR through his life from the 1920s-1960s so must be comfortable with age work. OSCAR is a kind and sexy leading man who falls deeply in love with NINA MAE. He is the epitome of timeless Black swag. A protector and a charmer. [HIGH BARITONE, B2-G4]

MYRTLE: 30/60 white cis woman. We follow the character of MYRTLE through her life from the 1920s-1960s so must be comfortable with age work. MYRTLE is J’s older sister who believes in family and does her best to uphold her family’s legacy. [VOCAL TYPE: ETHEL MERMAN, F3-Bb4, with strong belt]

Misha’s satanic, identical twin. Sleazy, sweaty, and stupid - but certain that all women find him irresistible. - Helene II: A hand puppet. A baby piranha. Bears a resemblance to Helene Huber. - Miss Mitzi: 18. A hand puppet. A zaftig blonde in a dirndl. - Officer Helmut Huber: 25. A hand puppet. A Waffen-SS Officer. - Pope Pius XII: 67. A hand puppet. - Miss Mitzi: 95. A ginormous and frightening puppet, embedded in a wheelchair. Dressed in a ragged dirndl, with cankles that pool over the edges of her flat shoes.
