CONTRACT

Guest Artist Guest Artist, Tier 2 (32 rehearsal hours, 5 performances, $446/week)

SEEKING

Equity and non-Equity actor/singers who move well for various roles in AVENUE Q and GREASE. See breakdown.

PREPARATION

Two one-minute musical theatre selections in the styles of the shows that show personality and storytelling ability. Bring sheet music in your key and be prepared to sing additional songs if requested.

Actors who have puppeteering experience and are interested in a specific puppet role in Avenue Q may sing their selection animating a puppet. You may bring your own or one will be provided at the audition. Experience with puppets is not required to be considered for a role in Avenue Q.

Kate Monster: a kindergarten teaching assistant; a bit older than Princeton

Nicky: a bit of a slacker, who lives with

Rod: a Republican investment banker with a secret

Trekkie Monster: a reclusive creature obsessed by the Internet

Lucy: a vixenish vamp with a dangerous edge

The Bad Idea Bears: two snuggly, cute teddy-bear types

Mrs. T: crabby and ancient, Kate’s boss

Human Characters

Brian: laid-back guy married to

Christmas Eve: a therapist who moved here from Japan; speaks with a subtle Japanese dialect

Gary Coleman: yes, that Gary Coleman; the apartment superintendent

Characters

Danny Zuko: good-looking, strong and confident, with an air of easy-going charm

Sandy Dumbrowski: new girl in town; sweet, wholesome, naive, cute, and innocent

Betty Rizzo: tough, sarcastic and outspoken but vulnerable

Frenchy: a dreamer; good-natured but not too smart; wants to be a beautician

Marty: pretty and tries to act sophisticated until she opens her mouth

Jan: funny and loud with the girls but awkward and shy with boys; compulsive eater

Doody: small, boyish, open and disarming; hero-worships the other guys; plays the guitar.

Kenickie: tough-looking, tattooed, surly; avoids any show of softness; offbeat sense of humor

Sonny Latierri: funny Italian-American braggart and wheeler-dealer who thinks he's a lady-killer

Roger: stocky class clown; full of mischief and always dreaming up half-baked schemes

Vince Fontaine: 'teen idol' disc jockey; slick, egotistical and fast-talking; a veteran 'Greaser'

Cha-Cha (aka Charlene DiGregorio): gum-chewing loud mouth; great dancer

Eugene Florczyk: awkward, nerdy valedictorian with high pitched voice; both smug and gullible

Johnny Casino: All-American, rock-star “greaser” whose real name is Clarence

Miss Lynch: no-nonsense, serious, loud, English teacher

Patty Simcox: cheerleader; attractive, athletic, sure-of-herself, exuberant; can twirl a baton

Teen Angel: suave and slick guardian angel who encourages Frenchy to stay in school

The Pink Ladies:club-jacketed, gum-chewing, hip-swinging girls' gang

The Burger Palace Boys: super-cool, hard-looking high school wheeler-dealers...so they think

DIRECTIONS

From Interstate 95:
1. Go east on Glades Road to the second campus entrance at NW 13th Street (there is a traffic light). Once on the campus, it will be called E. University Drive.
2. Make the second left onto Arts Avenue and park at a meter in the parking lot on your right.

From Federal Highway:
1. Go west on Glades Road to the first campus entrance at NW 13th Street (there is a traffic light). Once on the campus, it will be called E. University Drive.
2. Make the second left onto Arts Avenue and park at a meter in the parking lot on your right.

After you have parked:
3. Walk on Arts Ave. toward campus (past the pond). After it turns to the left, look for the white bell tower on your right (PA Building). Enter there and go past the Art Gallery. Wait in the theatre lobby, and we will be with you shortly.
