This vision of this production is a lot less traditional and is inspired with more of a “Game of Thrones” or “Lord of the Rings” feel. Sexy, contemporary physical types preferred.
Especially interested in non traditional casting.

20 - 35 Arthur is at once wise, generous, compassionate, and boyish – rather unsure of himself, yet an inspiration to others. Baritone (low A to Eb)

18 - 25. A young, spirited girl, who is quite caught up in chivalry and the exciting possibilities of a promising life. She loves Arthur but is very much thrown by the arrival of Lancelot – the start of the famous “love triangle.” Mezzo (low B to high #F)

20-35. An abundantly self-assured knight from France who is a passionate disciple of Arthur and his Round Table. “The greatest knight in the world,” whose only weakness is his love for Guenevere. Baritone (low A to D )

late 40s - 60 A wonderfully funny and stuffily “British” old knight – provides the most consistent comic relief in the play. Dedicated to Arthur. Very eccentric. Doubles as Merlin .

mid 20s A truly evil young man, who was “sired” by Arthur when the king was young and naïve. A thoroughly and fascinatingly unlikable fellow. Tenor

Female. 18 – 30. Actress will play both roles. As NIMUE - The “nymph” who lures Merlyn away with her hauntingly beautiful singing. Mezzo (low C# to high D#) .As MORGAN LE FAY –a beautiful and powerful sorceress

Director: Gavin Mayer
Rehearsals: 6/17/14
Opens: 7/15/14
Closes: 8/3/14

Male, Caucasian, 20s. Needs a thrilling pop/rock tenor singing voice. Caught between the world of gorillas and the world of humans. Tarzan is a human raised by a family of apes in the African jungle. We must identify with him and care about him and his emotional journey. He is charming, sexy, vulnerable, animal-like, mysterious, curious, innocent, and has great humanity. He is physically lean but toned, like a swimmer; he is NOT a muscle man as in the traditional Tarzan-type! He should have strong upper body strength and be physical, agile, fearless, and very comfortable with movement and tackling aerial work. His body must be at one with the environment. Flies in the show.

Female, English female in her 20s. Attractive, sexy, vulnerable, gutsy, lots of vitality, adventurous, fearless, funny, charming, and beguiling. The new woman of her time. Very witty with great comic timing and a wonderful energy, but also has a Victorian sweetness and refinement. Prim, proper but sexy, maintaining a great sense of humor and an enthusiasm for her “science”. Her falling in love for the first time – with Tarzan – is overwhelming to her. Must be game and be willing to be physical as Jane transforms into someone very courageous. Needs a terrific pop / rock singing voice. Flies in the show.

Female, in her 30s. Mother figure to Tarzan, with a fierceness, determination, and strong will. Through the passage of time she evolves into a mature, unconditionally loving figure with a big heart and great warmth. Although this character is a gorilla, we are seeking someone who’ll provide much acting skill and presence (NOT an actor hiding behind a costume). Needs a terrific pop/rock singing voice. Must be agile and comfortable with heights. Will do some ariel work.

Male, in his 30s or 40s. Father figure to Tarzan and patriarch of his family and of the jungle. A physically impressive warrior. He is torn between his commitment as a responsible leader and his commitment as a compassionate husband and father. Although this character is a gorilla, we are seeking someone who’ll provide much acting skill and presence (NOT an actor hiding behind a costume). Needs a terrific baritone singing voice with lots of soul. Must be agile and comfortable with heights. Will do some ariel work.

Male, in his 20s. Tarzan’s best friend. Always on the fringe, awkward, self-aware & ironic. Grateful to Tarzan, without whom he would surely be on the bottom rung. An outcast, trying to fit in. Must be funny, witty, unique, and game. Although this character is a gorilla, we are seeking someone who’ll provide comedic acting skills and a presence (NOT an actor hiding behind a costume). Must also be physical and agile. Needs a terrific pop / rock singing voice

Male, in his 30s. A classic, smooth con man. Handsome, sexual, and charming. He pursues Jane and out to capture the gorillas for his own personal, financial gain. Non-singing role.

Male, English male in his 50s or 60s. Jane’s dad. Dignified, maintains an integrity and enthusiasm about his “science”. Eccentric, funny, whimsical, absent-minded. Needs a pleasant character singing voice.
