Male and Female Actors. Please see Breakdown.

Preparation
Please prepare a 2 minunte monologue from a contemporary play (written after 1940). Please
avoid poetry, excerpts from novels, classical plays, etc. Artemisia produces new plays; we want
to see your work as it specifically relates to stories written directly for the stage. Bring
headshot and resume.

First Rehearsal September 3, 2013
Performances September 20th through September 28th.

Other
Artemisia will comply with AEA Staged Reading Code, 11 hours of rehearsal per reading,
performance with scripts in hand, etc.

Personnel
Founding Artistic Director Julie Proudfoot and Artistic Associate Jeri Frederickson will attend
with casting authority.
EPA Rules are in effect.
A monitor will be provided.

Appointments
will be taken by the Equity office beginning Friday, June 7th at 9:30 AM. Call 312-641-0406
9:30 AM-12:30 PM and 3:00-4:30 PM only.
Performers of all ethnic and racial background are encouraged to attend.

smoker, works at Foodland

-KEVIN – male, 32, Casey’s ex-husband and father to her son, ex-Marine, rides a
Harley, works at Home Depot, African-American.

-SEAN – male, 10, Casey and Kevin’s son, mixed race, Caucasian/African-American

-STAFF SERGEANT THOMAS WILLIAMS - male, early 30’s, Casey’s immediate

damaged

-Ellen Clarke – female, 20s, Lovable but lacks confidence, thinks herself
inadequate, but she is in reality very smart and capable.

-Sarah Jane Wylie – female, 19, smart, deceptive, righteous, her tendency to
bitterness masks a broken heart

altruistic filmmaker.

-CAROLYN JANE TYLER: female, 17, and the youngest of the 3 sisters. A senior in
high school, she is level headed, caring and con?dent.

-CHARLOTTE ROSE TYLER: female, 21 or 22 years old. The middle daughter,
Charlotte was recently released from a rehabilitation program after being expelled from college for drug and alcohol abuse. Deeply intelligent and angry, Charlotte hides a dark secret behind a veil of cynicism and sarcasm.

-AMY LYNN TYLER: female, 24/25 years old. The oldest daughter, Amy typifies the
girl good who uses denial to make her dysfunctional life seem perfect.

-MEREDITH TYLER: female, mid-?fties. Meredith is an intelligent, attractive woman
who longs to regain control of her abusive marriage and dysfunctional family.

-DON TYLER: male mid-fities. A republican, and a man of secrecy, consumed with
his work and determined to make sure his family is seen in a positive light.
