Prepare EITHER: 1) a brief contemporary monologue, no more than two minutes, OR 2) a brief song (musical theatre, pop/rock, or gospel), OR 3) a one minute contemporary monologue and 16 bars of a song (musical theatre, pop/rock, or gospel). If singing, bring sheet music in correct key; accompanist provided but may not transpose.

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

Baker:

An average working man, warm hearted and determined but insecure. Eager to have a family. Ab2 – G4 Baritone

Baker’s Wife:

Determined and bright. A romantic at heart. F3 – G5 Mezzo-Soprano

Cinderella’s Mom/Granny/Giant:

Caucasian. Nurturing and loving. A spirit, she dispenses useful advice. Also plays Granny, Red’s feisty, savage grandmother, no nonsense. Also plays Giant. E4 – F4 (or Ab5) Mezzo-Soprano

Witch:

Driven by retribution. Outwardly self-serving, possessive, sarcastic, vain, charismatic. Inwardly insecure and lonely. Sarcastic, ugly, then gorgeous. F3 – G5 Mezzo Soprano

Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf:

Vain and gorgeous. Self-dramatizing and endlessly confident. Also play Wolf, hungry and insatiable; seductive and sexy. Bb2 – Gb4 Baritone.

Cinderella’s Stepmother:

African American. “Beautiful of face, but vile and black of heart”. Mean-spirited. A3 – F#5 Mezzo-Soprano.
