We welcome performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, body types, and exceptionalities. Actors of diverse cultural and racial backgrounds are encouraged to apply. We are looking for singers with authentic musicality who feel at home in country, blues, folk, and rock idioms.

PEGGY JO TALLAS, Alto. (F#3-C#5). Late 30s-50s. Bank robber who eluded law enforcement for many years disguised as a man. Otherwise unsuspecting, she works at a hotel chain and lives at home with her mother. Dry sense of humor. She holds her cards close to her chest and has developed a certain gruffness, or hardened veneer with time. In moments of music, she is physically energetic to the point of near anarchy. Alto with a strong belt and keen harmonic ear; equally facile with soaring folk and rock melodies and restrained punk-talk recitative. Patti Smith meets Bonnie Raitt.

RENA, Alto/Mezzo. (F#3-D#5). Late 20s/Early 30s. Tenured employee at the Chili’s in Peggy Jo’s home town. Has dreams of something bigger for herself, and uses Peggy Jo’s story to help break the negative cycles in her life. Speaks mostly in humorous and ruthlessly candid direct address to the audience. Strong performative chops as a front woman. Has a strong folk/rock sensibility, she knows her voice well and has a wide dynamic range; she can growl, punk-talk, and croon folk-rock.

JERRY “MA” TALLAS, Low Alto. (F#3-A4). 60-80s. Peggy’s Mother. Shares Peggy Jo’s dry sense of humor, but without any illusions of grandeur. Recent ill health has taken away her ability to see. Has as much vocal ease as vocal power, able to bring language to life in song. She brings down the house with an 11 o’clock number.

STAN, High Tenor. (F3-A4 with optional falsetto up to C#5). 40s-50s. Perpetually down on his luck. Has an unusual sense of optimism. Has known the Tallas family since he was in third grade. Loyal to his friendships above all else.

KATHY, Alto/Mezzo/Soprano. (A#3-C#5). 40’s-50s. Peggy Jo’s sister. Very well-adjusted and over-scheduled. Enjoys her little bubble of Texas suburbia. Humor helps her cope with a life that is not as shiny as it appears.

TANYA, Alto/Mezzo. (C#4-D#5). Late 20s/Early 30s. Rena's co-worker at Chili's. Vivacious, full of energy, with a mischievous bent. Her optimism is spiked with a middle finger towards the establishment.

COP BILLY, Baritone/tenor. ( F#3 - G4). Late 20s to 50s. Policeman in Dallas, endlessly chasing his tail. Wild confidence without any follow-through. A cclown who can turn to violence on a dime.

COP ROY, Baritone/tenor. (F#3 - G4). Late 20s to 50s. Policeman in Dallas, endlessly chasing his tail. Has the smarts of the two, but with a short fuse. Desperate for a promotion, and the promise of greatness. A clown who can turn to violence on a dime.

MANAGER BILL, Bass/baritone. (F#2 - C4). 30s to 50s. Manager at Chili’s. The kinda guy who gives his staff rides to work, but has not yet learned the HR definition of “boundaries”.
