A WOMAN AMONG WOMEN
SEEKING:
Cleo (Mid-60s/Any Race) The matriarch. Biological mother of Grace and Jo. The play takes place in her backyard. Confident, Funny, Loud, Jocular. Life of the party.
Tammy (Late 30s/Any Race) Stay-at-home mom. Married to Christine. Original thinker, proud to buck convention. This part requires above-the-waist nudity.
Lane (40s/Any Race) Married to Sarah. Musician—proficient in either guitar or piano. Stay-at-home dad, jovial but defensive.
Rida/Trisha (Any Age/an 8-year-old and a 70-year-old, respectively/Any Race) Rida is an 8-year-old girl, brash and feisty. Trisha is in her 70s, folksy and kind.
Tina (40-60/Any Race) Lives with Cleo in a non-romantic way. Tough as nails and also hugely sentimental.
Roy [CAST] (30s/Any Race) Married to Cleo’s daughter, Jo. Sensitive, agreeable, and easy-going unless he is pressed too hard.
Sarah [CAST] (Early 40s/Any Race) Cleo’s next-door neighbor. Works with Cleo at a psychological wellness center for women as an MD. Married to Lane, mother of Beatrix, an 8-year-old girl. Self Aware, Self-Critical, Prone to crying jags and laughing fits.
Christine [CAST] (Late 40s/Any Race) Cleo’s other next-door neighbor. A lawyer with two kids. Loves drama and gossip.
Grace [CAST] (Late 30s/Any Race) Daughter of Cleo. Lives nearby, works with her mother at The Center. A listener, introspective, earnest, anxious.
