SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Mosaic Theater Co. of DC's 2026-27 Season (see breakdown). All shows will be performed in the Sprenger Theatre of the Atlas Performing Arts Center. DC local actors are encouraged to attend.

PREPARATION

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.
Please prepare a contemporary monologue of up to two minutes, and bring a printed headshot and resume if you are able. To be considered for Somewhere Over the Border, please prepare a short song in the style of the play (cumbia; rock; hip-hop). An accompanist will be provided.

SOMEWHERE OVER THE BORDER

  • THE NARRATOR: Our charming guide. Any age. Plays guitar well.
  • REINA: A Salvadorean girl, 18 years old.
  • JULIA: Reina’s mother, 40s.
  • ADÁN/CRUZ: Reina’s brother, 20s, and an Indigenous Guatemalan boy with dreams of obtaining an American degree.
  • NAPOLEON/SILVANO: A Salvadorean man who owns the restaurant that Reina works at, and a man from Tapachula, Mexico with a dream to reunite with the rest of his family in America.
  • ANTONIA/LEONA: An older woman who lives in El Salvador and has a daughter in The United States; and a meek Catholic nun from Guadalajara, with rock and roll dreams.

NATURAL HISTORY

  • VIRGIL: A museum security guard, around 50 years old, who adopts a cowboy persona.

  • CANDELA: Eighteen, woman.

  • DRUMMER: Actual musician, plays all the percussion throughout the show. Has a command of gogo and jazz. This musician also represents the likeness of DAD. He has no speaking lines.
