SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM (see breakdown).

Video submissions will be accepted through Feb 20th at 5:00pm at
casting@oakparkfestival.com . Those submitting video auditions must be able to attend in-person callbacks on Feb 27th at the same location as general auditions. Videos should be submitted as a link to view, not a file to download. Unlisted YouTube links are preferred. Please slate, include your headshot/resume (JPG / PDF) & list any roles you would like to be considered for in email.

PREPARATION

Please prepare 1 Shakespeare monologue (verse or prose) under 90 seconds.

Please note this is an outdoor production (at Austin Gardens in Oak Park, IL). Both rehearsals and performances take place outdoors (There is an indoor space used for inclement weather during the rehearsal process.)

We are a fully vaccinated workplace. You will be required to show proof of vaccination in order to receive your contract.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

The audition room can accommodate no more than 25 individuals at a time.

Please note that any binary gender listed is in regards to how the character will be portrayed due to approach of storytelling. All roles are open to any cultural / ethnic background, gender expression and ability.

Seeking:

All roles will be understudied.

Theseus/Oberon: (Male identified) Duke of Athens and King of the Fairies. In this production Oberon and Titania's text will flip so that Oberon will take Titania’s lines and vice versa.

Hippolyta/Titania: (Female identified) Queen of the Amazons and Queen of Fairies. Titania’s text will be flipped with Oberon’s so that she will have his track and vice versa.

Lysander: (Female identified) A youth who is in love with Hermia.

Hermia: (Female identified) A youth who is in love with Lysander.

Demetrius: (Male identified) A youth who is trying to woo Hermia, ends up falling in love with Helena.

Helena: (Male identified) A youth who is in love with Demetrius.

Puck: (Any gender) A fairy who works for Oberon. Full of mischief. Singing role.

Bottom: (Any gender) A mechanical who plays the role of Pyramus. He is turned into a Donkey.

Quince/Fairies: (Any gender) Leader of the mechanicals.

Flute/Fairies: (Any gender) One of the mechanicals.

Snug/Fairies: (Any gender) One of the mechanicals
