LISTENING SALON: CRIMINAL JAZZ Will Bring Prohibition-Era Jazz Noir to Edmonton
The performance is on May 8, 2026.
The Listening Salon, presented by Slade Creative, invites Edmonton audiences into the shadows for a one-night-only Jazz Noir experience at the Rice Theatre. On May 8, the venue will be transformed into a world inspired by the secrecy, style, and seduction of the Prohibition era—where jazz thrived, rules were meant to be broken, and the night held endless possibility.
Blending live music, theatre, and immersive atmosphere, the evening channels the underground energy of late-night cabarets, bringing a cinematic, after-hours experience to the stage.
The night features acclaimed saxophonist Dave Babcock and his Jump Five, joined by vocalist Ariana Whitlow, delivering a sound steeped in vintage swing and noir textures. Rapid Fire Theatre adds a dynamic theatrical layer, weaving spontaneity and storytelling throughout the evening.
“This isn't just a concert or a play,” say the organizers at The Listening Salon / Slade Creative. “It's an experience—something that places the audience inside a moment, somewhere between music, mystery, and mischief.”
With limited capacity, the event embraces exclusivity, echoing the hidden gatherings of the Prohibition era. Early booking is strongly encouraged.
