TMP will be ringing in this holiday season with the musical theater classic, Guys and Dolls, in an exciting collaboration with The Salvation Army of Tacoma. Opening Thanksgiving weekend, this production will run for only fourteen performances November 27-December 20, 2009. Advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended.

Based on Damon Runyon's short story "The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown," Guys and Dolls revolves around Nathan Detroit, the organizer of the oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York, who bets fellow gambler Sky Masterson (played by Rafe Wadleigh, "Emil DeBecque" of TMPs South Pacific) that he can't make the next girl he sees fall in love with him. The next girl he sees happens to be Miss Sarah Brown (Sarah Samuelson of TMPs The King & I), a pure-at-heart Salvation Army reformer, and the stage is set for an evening of complications.

In a special partnership with The Salvation Army of Tacoma, Tacoma Musical Playhouse will be collecting donations of toys from theater patrons during the entire run of Guys and Dolls. These toys will be distributed through The Salvation Army's Toy ‘n' Joy program - providing gifts to Tacoma families who otherwise would not be able to afford toys for their children this Christmas. TMP recognizes the tremendous generosity of its patrons, as well as the history and ongoing efforts of The Salvation Army in Tacoma, and sincerely hopes that each of the 4,000-5,000 ticket holders for Guys and Dolls will join The Playhouse in this endeavor to bring a smile to the face of every Tacoma child this holiday season. Gifts can be brought to the TMP lobby anytime beginning November 22nd and through 5 pm on Sunday, December 20th.

Performances of Guys and Dolls are Fridays & Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm, with Saturday matinees at 2 pm on December 12th and 19th. All performances will take place at Tacoma Musical Playhouse, 7116 6th Avenue in Tacoma.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for students, seniors and military, and $18 for children 12 and younger. Student Rush tickets are $18 for opening weekend performances.

Group rates are available. For tickets or more information, visit www.tmp.org or call the TMP Box Office at 253-565-6867.
