Des Moines Playhouse Hosts A Teen Night 11/14

The Des Moines Playhouse is the home for Second Saturday, an alternative Saturday night entertainment for young people in grades 6 - 12. The next session of Second Saturday is at 7:30-10:00 PM, Saturday, Nov. 14. Cost is $8. Pre-registration is requested, and is available online at dmplayhouse.com.

Now in its 17th year of theatre fun at The Playhouse, Second Saturday is an evening of sketch comedy and fast-paced games. Students, more than 100 each month from throughout the metro, work in groups according to age. While not a class or workshop, Second Saturday is planned and supervised by Playhouse education staff.

Second Saturday is held each month, September - May. The 2009-10 season schedule is as follows: Dec. 12, Jan. 9, Feb. 13, Mar. 13, Apr. 10, and May 8.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
