Join the Des Moines Community Playhouse on Nov. 19 for "The First Moccasins." This story is part of the 2010-11 season of Friday Funday, a creative participatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. Performances are at The Playhouse, Friday, Nov. 19, at 9:30 and 10:30 AM, and 1:30 PM. Shows are approximately 45 minutes in length. Admission is $5 per person, adults and children. November's featured story is "The First Moccasins." Chief Tenderfoot has a big problem. His bare feet always hurt, and now he has become the laughing stock of the entire village. Can the medicine man come up with a solution before it's too late? Come and share this Plains Indian tale.
Friday Funday performances are held monthly, September-May. The new season features a variety of stories, including; "The Gingerbread Boy," Dec. 17; "Snow White," Jan 14; "The Mitten," Feb. 11; "The Golden Goose," Mar. 4; and "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," Apr. 8; "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," May 20; and, a special Friday Funday event, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie," June 16-19.
The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
