BoDeans to Return to Des Moines Performing Arts for First Appearance in More Than 30 Years
The acclaimed Midwest rock band will perform at the Temple Theater on October 22 as part of its 40th anniversary celebration.
Des Moines Performing Arts (DMPA) has announced that acclaimed American roots rock band BoDeans will return to Des Moines on Thursday, October 22 for a performance at the Temple Theater.
The concert marks the band's first appearance at DMPA in more than three decades. BoDeans last performed for a nearly sold-out audience at the Civic Center in November 1993.
Formed in Waukesha, Wisconsin, in the early 1980s, BoDeans have become one of the most enduring acts in American roots rock. Led by founding member Kurt Neumann, the group has built a loyal following through a distinctive blend of heartland rock, Americana influences and guitar-driven storytelling.
The band first gained national attention with its 1986 debut album, Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams, produced by T Bone Burnett. Over the years, BoDeans have released more than a dozen studio albums and scored a string of fan-favorite songs, including "Good Things," "Idaho," "Fadeaway" and "Only Love."
Their biggest commercial success came with "Closer to Free," which reached the Top 20 and became widely known as the theme song for the television series Party of Five.
As the group celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026, BoDeans continue to tour and record, bringing their Signature Sound to audiences across the country. Their longevity and reputation for energetic live performances have helped establish them as one of the Midwest's most beloved rock acts.
Tickets for the Temple Theater engagement are on sale now through Des Moines Performing Arts.
