Paragon Theatre's Trench Play Development Series Presents RACE RELATIONS 5/18
Four college students struggle to define their identities against a backdrop of racial tension in this staged reading of an award-winning play presented by Paragon Theatre's "The Trench: A New Play Development Series."
"Race Relations," written by Denver playwright Carrie Printz and directed by Warren Sherrill, will be presented on Monday, May 18 at 7 p.m. at the Crossroads Theater, 2590 Washington Street, Denver. No reservations are necessary.
"Race Relations" is a comedy/drama set in the 1980s. It explores the life of Max Cohen, who arrived at Porter University as a hard-core liberal but has transformed himself into a conservative student newspaper columnist who loves to provoke Porter's leftist student body. Always looking to stir up controversy, Max gets into trouble when he accuses the head of the African-American Students Association of racism. When Porter's first African-American woman president gets involved, Max finds himself headed for even bigger problems.
"Race Relations" received an honorable mention in the New York City-based, international 2009 New Works of Merit Playwriting Contest.
Carrie Printz is a freelance writer who holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Brown University and a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
