Siblings often have spats, but when one claims a tall, invisible rabbit is his best friend, it can truly tax the family ties. Just how far a sister will go to keep her brother and his big eared white friend out of the public eye is the plot of the American comedy classic "Harvey." Presented as Possum Point Players' winter dinner theatre, "Harvey" opens Friday, Jan. 29.

For those who want to "see" what happens to Harvey and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner, tickets are now on sale for Jan. 29, 30, 31 and Feb. 5, 6 and 7. Fridays and Saturdays, dinner is 6 p.m. and the show is 7:30 p.m. Sundays, dinner is at 12 noon and show time is 2 p.m. Tickets for the dinner theatre package are $45; tickets for the show only are $20. Tickets may be purchased on line at www.possumpointplayers.org or by calling 302-856-4560. Dinner tickets are limited, so purchase early.

Malcom Keen portrays the mild mannered Elwood Dowd who welcomes all comers as a new friend and someone who will certainly enjoy the fellowship of his Pooka friend, Harvey. Veta, Stephanie Allman, loves her brother, but he and the over-grown, if invisible, bunny disrupt her plans to launch Myrtle May, her eligible daughter, into polite society. E.J. Panico as Myrtle May has little patience with Uncle Elwood and no tolerance whatsoever for a make-believe rabbit who accompanies her uncle to most of the watering holes in town.

To keep things hopping, a couple of psychiatrists of questionable professional acumen, Michael Murnin and Kenney Workman, get in the mix when Veta attempts to have Elwood committed to the local sanitarium. Working hard to become a love-interest of one of the doctors, Nurse Kelly, played by Barbara Logan, finds Elwood charming and chivalrous, regardless of his furry friend.

The chain of events that Veta sets off as she attempts to have Elwood locked up leads to adventures in hydro tub therapy, threats of law suits and the realization that there might be more to Harvey than what meets the eye.

Linda Killion directs "Harvey" and rounding out the cast are Doug Friend, Cheryl Graves, Rosanne Pack, Marsha Shull and Michael Williams.

"Harvey" is being produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

Possum Point Players is supported, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
