Victoria Theatre Association announces a special partnership with the Dayton area women's organization, The Dayton Chapter of The Links, Incorporated concentrating on providing educational opportunities and scholarships for Dayton Public Schools students.
"The partnership between Victoria Theatre Association and The Dayton Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will enable us to take our ‘Links to Literacy' program to the next level," says Belinda Matthews-Stenson, President of the Dayton Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. "This initiative will allow us to create and support opportunities for educating Dayton Public Schools students beyond the classroom."With a vision to improve the quality of life for the members of the Dayton community and become the premier community service organization in the greater Dayton Area, the Dayton Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has donated over $1 million in contributions, scholarships and in-kind services. Through their partnership with Victoria Theatre Association, the Dayton Chapter will provide scholarships (through application) to Dayton Public Schools to offset expenses to attend the Physicians for Kid Discovery Series as well as scholarships to the annual Education & Engagement summer camp. The 2012 summer camp will be held in June in conjunction with the 2011-2012 Miami Valley & Good Samaritan Hospitals Broadway Series presentation of the blockbuster musical, Wicked.The members of The Links, Incorporated are influential decision makers and opinion leaders. The Links, Incorporated, has attracted many distinguished women who are individual achievers and have made a difference in their communities and the world. They are business and civic leaders, role models, mentors, activists and volunteers who work towards a common vision by engaging like-minded organizations and individuals for partnership. Links members contribute more than 500,000 documented hours of community service annually - strengthening their communities and enhancing the nation. The organization is the recipient of awards from the UN Association of New York and the Leon H. Sullivan Foundation for its premier programs.
The outstanding programming of The Links, Incorporated has five facets which include National Trends and Services, the Arts, Services to Youth, International Trends and Services and Health and Human Services. The programs are implemented through strategies such as public information and education, economic development, and public policy campaigns.
