SIMPLY SINATRA Set for the Southern Theatre, 5/13

By:

In Simply Sinatra, Steve Lippia "expertly delivers standards permanently engraved in music history" including "I've Got You Under My Skin," "The Lady is a Tramp," "Mack the Knife," "Just the Way You Are," and "That's Life."

CAPA presents Simply Sinatra at 3pm on Sunday, May 13, at the Southern Theatre (21 E. Main St.). Tickets are $30.50-$35.50 at the Ohio Theatre Ticket Office (39 E. State St.), all Ticketmaster outlets, and www.ticketmaster.com. To purchase tickets by phone, please call (614) 469-0939 or (800) 745-3000. Students between the ages of 13-19 may purchase $5 PNC Arts Alive All Access tickets while available.

This presentation is made possible through the generous support of CAPA season sponsor American Airlines.

Lippia has become one of the most prominent, in-demand vocalists and has quickly established his place among the finest interpreters of "standards" and traditional pop music in the nation. His youthful, energetic talent and powerful show creates a perfect blend of "classic" with "today," introducing a new generation to this timeless music while appealing to long-time listeners. Lippia's program, Simply Sinatra, is a wonderful walk down memory lane celebrating the music of Old Blue Eyes.

The Wall Street Journal reported that, "Frank Sinatra's long-time friend and associate Tino Barzie and his musical director Vincent Falcone thought they had stumbled on an old Sinatra recording the first time they heard Mr. Lippia's demo tape. It also fooled Lee Solters, Sinatra's publicist for 26 years."

Lippia has performed to sold-out audiences with major symphonies across North America, including the Philly Pops, Boulder Philharmonic, Toronto, Rochester Philharmonic, Palm Beach Pops, Indianapolis, Oregon, Irving, Austin, Calgary, Naples Philharmonic, Tacoma, Alabama, Greensboro, Hilton Head, North Carolina, Tacoma, Winnipeg, Tucson, Duluth-Superior, Allentown, Lexington, Grand Rapids, Louisiana Philharmonic, Brampton, Colorado, York, Jacksonville, Edmonton, Vancouver, Charlotte, Bowling Green, Danville, Virginia, Fort Worth, Shreveport, North Arkansas, Corpus Christi, Kansas City, Cleveland Pops, Mississippi, Chattanooga, Missouri, Southwest Michigan, and Brampton-Ontario.

Lippia has headlined in highly successful, extended engagements at the Rio Suites and Casino in Las Vegas and Resorts Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, where audiences lined up more than two hours before show time to vie for seating. He has performed in multiple engagements for Hilton Atlantic City and Casino Windsor among others. Lippia has headlined at the legendary Birdland Jazz Club in New York City, backed by the Nelson Riddle and Woody Herman Orchestras.

Lippia's TV appearances include "EXTRA," FOX's "Good Day New York," CNN's "Showbiz Today," ABC, and the BBC.

Lippia's much acclaimed, self-titled CD was recorded at Warner Bros. Studios in LA with a 41-piece symphony. In addition, he has recorded Steve Lippia Live, a collection of live performances. His third CD, Steve Lippia in Concert" was released in 2009.
