FUNNY GIRL Plays At Ultra Cool Film Series 8/14 Thru 8/16
Laugh and cry with Barbra Streisand's film debut FUNNY GIRL, as Victoria Theatre Association and Heidelberg Distributing Company present another entertaining weekend of the Michelob Ultra Cool Film Series, August 14-16, 2009 at the historic Victoria Theatre in downtown Dayton.
William Wyler's musical film FUNNY GIRL (1968) features beloved actress and singer Barbra Streisand in the rags-to riches portrayal of the 1920's era Ziegfeld Follies star, Fanny Brice. Ms. Streisand later won an Oscar for the role, tying with Katherine Hepburn for The Lion in Winter. FUNNY GIRL boasts an Oscar-nominated Jules Styne-Bob Merrill score that includes classics like "People" and "Don't Rain on My Parade." Omar Sharif also stars in this hilariously funny film.
Films are shown at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. on Sundays in the air-conditioned comfort of the Victoria Theatre. Enjoy free popcorn and soda in the lobby beginning one hour prior to show time, the Mighty Wurlitzer organ concert beginning 30 minutes prior to show time, and a classic cartoon just before the movie.
