Encore Theatre Co. Seeks Actors for SPRING AWAKENING

Encore Theater Company is seeking energetic actors, 18 years of age or older, to fill the roles below-fifteen "boys and girls" to play the ages of 14-17, and two adults, to play between the ages of 40 and 60. All actors must be able to sing (even the adults.) Please prepare a short (1 minute) rock/pop/folk song in the style of the show. Bring sheet music with you as an accompanist will be provided. NO MUSICAL THEATRE SONGS. We don't want to hear RENT. We don't want to hear Jason Robert Brown. We don't want to hear PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Those auditioning for the roles of the Adults may prepare a brief (1 minute) monologue instead of a song. There will also be a brief movement call at the end of each segment of auditions.

SPRING AWAKENING Character Breakdown

ADULT MEN
Multiple roles, including HERR STIEFL (Mortiz's father), HERR GABOR (Melchior's Father), and HERR SONNENSTITCH (the boy's teacher) Must be able to sing.
ADULT WOMEN
Multiple roles, including FANNY (Melchior's mother), FRAU BERGMAN (Wendla's mother), and the teacher. Must be able to sing.
ANNA
A German schoolgirl and Martha's best friend. Has a difficult time understanding Martha's trials.
A3 - C5
ERNST
A schoolmate of Melchior's. Naive, easily manipulated. Unsure.
C3 - A4 Baritenor
GEORG
A schoolmate of Melchoir's who is overcome with his feelings for his piano teacher.
D3 - D5 Tenor
Georg needs to be able to sing up to a D5 in falsetto. The bulk of his range is between Ab2 - A4.
HANSCHEN
A schoolmate of Melchior's who is comfortable with his own sexuality and uses his looks and intelligence to manipulate another student.
C3 - A4 Baritenor
ILSE
Martha's sister, who shares her dark secret and has run away from home to live in an artists' colony. Moritz's last hope.

MARTHA
A schoolgirl with a life-changing secret.
G3 - E5
MELCHIOR
A smart, headstrong boy who refuses to bow down to society's rules. An atheist. Struggles with his intense feelings for Wendla.
G2 - G4
MORITZ
A troubled student who desperately tries to please his father, but always seems to disappoint him. Has haunting dreams. Melchior's best friend.
B2 - A4 Tenor
OTTO
A classmate of Melchior's who struggles with feelings he considers inappropriate.
C3 - B4 Baritenor
THEA
Wendla's best friend. A schoolgirl who tries to stay innocent and pure.
A3 - E5
WENDLA
Innocent, but with every passing day, she grows more curious about the world around her. Both vulnerable and a willing participant in her evolution.
G3 - E5
AUDIENCE SINGERS
2 boys, 2 girls. Vocal parts as above.

Schedule your audition by emailing Encore Theater Company at newmusicalsetc@gmail.com. Audition times will be scheduled in 5 minute intervals. In your email, please specify your desired BLOCK of time. A SPECIFIC audition time will be ASSIGNED to you. The audition time slots will run as below.

Please pick ONE of the following:
A) November 13th 12:00pm-2:10pm
If you sign up for this time slot, your movement call will begin at 2:15pm and end at 3:00pm.

B) November 13th 4:00pm-6:10pm
If you sign up for this time slot, your movement call will begin at 6:15pm and end at 7:00pm.

C) November 14th 6:00pm-9:10pm
If you sign up for this time slot, your movement call will begin at 9:15pm and end at 10:00pm.

As mentioned before, callbacks will take place November 15th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.
The first rehearsal will be a read-thru on November 17th at 6:00pm until 10:00pm.
