The Dayton Theatre Guild presents Independence by Lee Blessing, the fifth show of the 2009 - 2010 season. Performances begin Friday, April 9 and run through Sunday, April 25, 2009. It is directed by Fran Pesch and produced by Deirdre Root.

In Independence, Iowa, an unstable mother dominates her three daughters, Jo, Sherry and Kess. Kess's lifestyle choice has driven a wedge within the family. Combinations of guilt, timidity, anger and need overlap to suggest that underneath dysfunction there is still love.

The cast includes Rachel Wilson, last seen at the Guild in Shining City and Fuddy Meers and in The Dixie Swim Club at Beavercreek Community Theatre, Angela Timpone, who performed in The Cover of Life last season, and in The Constant Wife, both at the Guild. Brittany Brown is a newcomer to the Guild but with past experience at Town Hall Theatre. Marcia Nowik is also new at the Guild, having performed at Antioch's Shakespeare Under the Stars and Mad River Theater Works.

Independence runs three weekends, Fridays through Sundays, beginning on Friday, April 9th and closing Sunday, April 25th. Friday performances are at 8:00 p.m., the first Saturday is at 8:00 p.m., with second and third Saturday performances at 5:00 p.m. Sunday matinees are at 3:00 p.m. No one under the age of seven will be admitted.

Tickets can be purchased via our website or by calling the Guild at (937) 278-5993 or by visiting here
