About this studio
The Dance Project Inc, co-founded and directed by Luisa Meshekoff, is a non-profit organization offering dance education, rehabilitation, performances, mixed-media and cultural events, and it also produces educational documentary videos for local and national Public Access and PBS stations. Its programs center on movement arts rather than a conventional graded syllabus: dance classes, yoga, and 18th-century historical dance, together with youth and community activities. The organization describes itself as working with dancers, athletes and anyone recovering from injury or seeking training and coaching, and it emphasises a deliberately non-competitive setting with classes capped at 14 students. Community outreach includes yoga and movement sessions for seniors and for veterans and police, delivered in partnership with 1Voice. The Dance Project also rents its studio as affordable creative space to artists, musicians, choreographers and dancers, and its site hosts a gallery of work by Luisa and Edward Meshekoff.
