About this studio
Mary Jo's Performing Arts Academy (MJPAA) on Mapledale Boulevard in Tampa is celebrating 45 years and offers a complete performing arts curriculum spanning dance, acting, voice and music under owner and artistic director Mary Jo Scanio. The dance program is organized into a children's division, recreational dance, an upper division, an intensive training program and adult classes, with the upper division ballet track operating as the Classical Ballet of Tampa; separate acrobatics classes run at beginner, intermediate and advanced level. Acting and theatre classes cover drama, musical theatre, improvisation and on-camera technique, and private and semi-private voice plus piano, guitar and saxophone instruction is available for ages five to adult.
