About this studio
The School of Classical Ballet and Dance (SCBD) is a ballet school at 1509 42nd Street in West Des Moines, Iowa, summing up its approach as "Learn. Practice. Perform." It teaches in a purpose-built facility with sprung floors, high ceilings and professional flooring. The school runs a levelled curriculum with schedules published both by studio and by level, alongside a separate adult ballet registration track and a competition team. Its school year runs from the autumn, with new-family registration for the 2026/27 season opening in July, and it also offers a summer session with a weekly class schedule. SCBD stages an annual Nutcracker, holding auditions each August that are open to both SCBD students and dancers from outside the school.
